Who Is Behind Pax On Mars

Behind Pax On Mars is Michele Verze, an Italian-Australian designer based in Sydney whose background sits between branding, art direction and contemporary design culture.

Before entering fashion, Michele spent more than thirteen years working within the graphic design and advertising industry, specialising in brand identity, creative direction and visual systems. Over the years, he collaborated with agencies, cultural projects and businesses across different industries, developing identities that balanced strategy with emotion and aesthetics with clarity.

But fashion was always present in the background.

Not only as clothing, but as a form of visual language. A way people communicate personality, culture and mood without speaking. Over time, the boundary between graphic design, architecture, art and fashion started feeling increasingly connected. Each discipline influencing the other.

Pax On Mars emerged naturally from that intersection.

Growing up Italian shaped much of Michele’s creative perspective early on. Italy teaches you to observe details differently. Art, typography, sculpture, cinema and architecture become part of everyday life rather than distant cultural references. Catholic churches filled with paintings and marble. Museums visited during school years. Historic streets layered with texture, age and imperfection. These experiences quietly build visual sensitivity over time.

Una sensibilità visiva.

That influence still remains central to Pax On Mars today.

The brand draws from architecture as much as fashion. From industrial design as much as tailoring. From cinema, sculpture and contemporary culture. Rather than following fast-moving trends, the intention is to create garments with atmosphere and emotional permanence.

Sydney also played an important role in shaping the brand.

The city introduced a different relationship with lifestyle and clothing. More relaxed, more open, more connected to movement and physicality. The contrast between Italian visual culture and Australian ease became part of the identity itself. Structured but relaxed. Refined but never rigid.

Living between these two worlds created a perspective that feels distinct to Pax On Mars.

Working within branding and advertising for over a decade also changed the way Michele approached fashion entirely. The experience revealed how much of modern fashion had become driven by repetition, algorithms and surface-level aesthetics. Many brands communicate loudly but say very little beneath the image.

That understanding pushed Pax On Mars in another direction.

The brand focuses heavily on concept, symbolism and long-term identity building. Every detail, from the typography to the garment names, carries intention and narrative behind it. The same thinking applied in branding systems is now applied to fashion design. Shape, proportion, texture, tone of voice and visual rhythm all work together to create a coherent world.

At the same time, fashion introduced new lessons.

Unlike branding, clothing becomes deeply personal once worn. A garment moves with the body. It ages, folds, changes and develops memory over time. Fashion exists closer to everyday life. That human aspect became increasingly important throughout the development of Pax On Mars.

The goal was never simply to “start a fashion brand”.

It was to build a creative universe informed by culture, emotion, architecture and modern life. A project capable of bringing together years of visual experience into something physical and lasting.

Pax On Mars reflects Michele’s own balance of contradictions.

Energetic yet calm.
Structured yet emotional.
Italian yet shaped by Sydney.
Driven by design, but equally by feeling.

In continua evoluzione.
Always evolving.
